Destination for a Day:
  New Paltz, New York
New Paltz is located in Ulster County, in the heart of the Hudson Valley.  If you live in the Hudson Valley looking for a day trip or visiting as a tourist, New Paltz is a popular "must see" Hudson Valley Destination with wonderful tourist attractions, activities and restaurants.

It's a quaint and historic Town that is home to SUNY New Paltz, and some of the best restaurants, scenery, sightseeing, shopping and recreational activites you'll find anywhere in the world--let alone the Hudson Valley!

Our crew and Host Joe Rosati (who is also a DJ for Z100 FM) decided to head up to New Paltz for a day and check out some of the restaurants, attractions, and activities that were recommended to us by friends and locals.

Joe and the Crew had a fantastic day in New Paltz and enjoyed tasting food at some of the best restaurants by some of the best chefs in the Hudson Valley!

Joe started his day at the Main Street Bistro for a hearty breakfast.  The locals highly recommended it to us! The restaurant was busy and the coffee fresh, the fresh strawberry pancakes and other dishes looked mouthwatering, so Joe headed in for breakfast and a chat with owner Doug Thompson.

After breakfast Joe met up with a guide from Alpine Endeavors at Rock and Snow to gear up for a trip over to the "Gunks" at the beautiful Mohonk State Preserve (about 15 minutes out of Town) for a first time experience at Rock Climbing.

All that rock climbing got Joe's appetite surging again, so he headed down the mountain and back into Town to check out the Harvest Cafe Restaurant for Lunch and he heard that not only is the food top rate, but the view of the Shawnagunk Mountains from their outdoor deck is second to none.  Joe enjoyed their famous Granny Smith Apple Salad,  Salmon BLT and the Pumpkin Ravioli....Joe (and the Crew) recommends that you try any of those dishes!

Joe needed to work off some of those tasty meals he enjoyed at the Harvest Cafe, so he headed up to the Mohonk Mountain House where guests and day visitors can enjoy a wealth of outdoor activities including hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, paddleboating or a leisurely stroll around their beautiful natural glacial lake, gardens and much more. The Mohonk Mountain House is an incredibly beautiful place to visit for a day or stay as long as you like. Check it out!

To continue his day in New Paltz, Joe heard that Historic Huguenot Street was one of the most historic streets in America and that it has some haunting tales too...so Joe decided to take a stroll down Huguenot Street where he met up with Eric Roth, Executive Director.

Note: After Huguenot Street Joe headed over to
Biggy's Barbecue
where he and the crew had the most fantastic barbecue ribs EVER.

They still talk about the "dry rub ribs" they had there. Some of the crew went back to New Paltz recently to enjoy those ribs again, only to find out that the restaurant has recently changed owners, and unfortunately the new owner won't be serving the "best barbecue ribs" in the Hudson Valley so we won't be showing this video.

(If anyone knows where "Chef Phil" from Biggy's went...please let us know!)
